Structure Types:

Building structures can be organized into many different catagories based on use and/or material.  Typical use catagories are residential, commercial and industrial.  Typical material catagories are reinforced concrete and structural steel.

Structure Components:

  1. General

Building structure components include piles and footings for the foundation, columns and beams for the frames, and plates consisting of metal deck, concrete slabs or wood sheathing for the floors, roofs and walls.  Welds, bolts, screws and nails are used to hold the components together.
